For as long as I can remember I have been interested in Chinese medicine. As a kid, I watched my mother prepare herbs she would make me drink when I was ill. I watched acupuncture being given before experimenting by pressing the same points on myself and was amazed when points on my face made my mouth go numb. Consequently, I became fascinated.
My interest in herbal medicine was reinforced through learning Kung fu where I was captivated with ‘Dit DarJow’ (跌打酒), translated as ‘fall/hit’ liniments. I later lived in Hong Kong for many years and became very interested in how Chinese medicine is a part of everyday life there.
